October has been named Domestic Violence Awareness month by the Obama administration. We know that nearly 1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men have suffered from domestic violence by an intimate partner. We need to be aware as both individuals and a community to the signs of domestic violence. In a lot of cases intervention can be the key to prevention. If you or someone you know, has or is suffering from domestic violence please call your local authorities or the toll free National Domestic Hotline;
To all the personnel of the Canton Illinois Fire Department, we just wanted to say Thank You! These fine men and women at times have to risk life and limb to help keep our community safe, and we think their commitment and professionalism should be acknowledged. They are there when we need them, and we appreciate that. So maybe the next time you see a member of our fine local fire department, you can shake their hand and let them know that you appreciate their service and to keep up the good work!
